ONDO STATE GOVERNMENT EXPANDS HEALTH SUPPORT: CITIZENS ENCOURAGED TO JOIN HEALTH INSURANCE SCHEME FOR SUSTAINABLE ACCESS TO CARE
The Ondo State Government, through the Ministry of Health, has reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to the wellbeing of its citizens by providing financial assistance to residents facing various medical conditions. The distribution of the health relief fund was personally supervised by the Honourable Commissioner for Health, who expressed the state’s readiness to stand by its people during moments of vulnerability.
While presenting the support funds, the Honourable Commissioner urged beneficiaries to channel the assistance strictly towards their treatment and recovery. He noted that health challenges can come unexpectedly, and not everyone has the financial strength to shoulder medical expenses. “This support is not a gift — it is an investment in your health and future. Please use it wisely and let it bring you back to good health,” he advised.

However, the Commissioner also emphasized that government intervention of this nature is phased, and not all requests can be met immediately. To ensure sustainable and long-term access to quality care, he encouraged all residents — whether self-employed, informal workers, or private citizens — to enroll in the Ondo State Contributory Health Insurance Scheme (ODCHIS).
What Is ODCHIS, and Why Should You Enroll?
The Ondo State Contributory Health Insurance Scheme is a government-backed program designed to make healthcare affordable and accessible to all.
§ Annual payment: Only 18,000 Naira per person
§ Coverage: Outpatient care, emergency services, medications, maternity, surgeries, and more
§ No pay at hospital: Once enrolled, beneficiaries receive treatment without paying out of pocket
This initiative has already been adopted by civil servants and formal sector workers across the state — and now every resident can enjoy the same benefits.
A Government That Cares, A People That Must Act
The State Government is playing its role by protecting lives through direct support and inclusive health policies. But sustainable healthcare begins with shared responsibility.
Rather than waiting until sickness becomes a financial emergency, citizens are encouraged to secure their health ahead of time through the ODCHIS plan.
