Saving One Million Lives Program for Result

Image The Saving One Million Lives Program for Result is an initiative of the Federal Government of Nigeria rewarding states on their performances in increasing utilization of maternal and child Health intervention. The program was launched in 2012 as a response to poor health outcomes in the country, particularly for women & children.
SOML activities in Ondo State commenced in April 2017 and activities in the work plan are being carried out accordingly. SOML is aimed in delivering high impact, evidence based, cost effective interventions based on 6 “pillars” …… and 2 “Enablers”.

•To achieve wider coverage of these interventions that currently suffer from poor access and utilization.

DLI 1.2: Improvements in 6 key indicators of Maternal & Child Health
•Immunization Coverage (Penta-valent 3)
•LLIN use by children under 5
•Vitamin A coverage among Children 6-59 months
•Family planning (Contraceptive Prevalence Rate)
•HIV testing during pregnancy (PMTCT)
•Skilled Birth Attendant (SBA)
DLI 1.3: Evaluate the impact of result based disbursements for MNCH weeks- to increase demand for preventive and promotive services and to improve immunization and Vitamin A coverage
DLI 2: Increasing the Quality of High Impact Reproductive and Child health and Nutrition interventions- Health facility surveys on diagnostics accuracy, availability of drugs and minimum equipment, readiness of HFs to deliver key SOML interventions, frequency and quality of supervision, financial mgt. and reporting
DLI 3: Improving M&E systems and data utilization
DLI 3.1; Data collection- SMART surveys e.t.c.
DLI 3.2; Strengthening Performance Management and Data utilization –FGON reward for disseminating SMART survey result
DLI 3.3; Implementing Performance Managements in all States – PMU constitution, TCG meetings, improve data availability & quality.
