Recently, Ondo State Ministry of Health in conjunction with Clinton Health Access Initiative (CHAI) held a two-day domestication workshop of the National Human Resources for Health Policy with the objectives to:
a. To foster a comprehensive understanding of the National HRH policy among key Stakeholders in Ondo State Health sector and relevant government ministries.
b. To facilitate a participatory process of adapting the National HRH policy to align with the Ondo State unique healthcare needs and priorities.
c. To develop a state-specific HRH policy that outlines strategies for addressing identified workforce challenges and optimizing human resource utilization and
d. To build capacity among workshop participants for effective implementation and monitoring of state-specific HRH policy.
Speaking at the event which held at Sunview Hotel Alagbaka Akure, The Hon. Commissioner for Health, Dr. Banji Awolowo Ajaka while declaring the workshop open noted that the health sector is the bedrock of any society and a strong and resilient healthcare system was essential for achieving optimal health outcomes for the citizens of the State.
He explained that HRH policy would provide comprehensive framework for addressing the challenges faced by the health sector nationwide and the HRH policy would be tailored to address specific needs and realities of the people of the State.
He opined that by domesticating the policy, the State aimed at creating a roadmap that would guide their efforts in strengthening the healthcare workforce and improving the overall health of the people in the State.
The Commissioner averred that the workshop had provided a unique opportunity to collectively through discussions, knowledge sharing and collaboration, identify the gaps in the state human resources and develop strategies to address the challenges and build the capacity of the workforce in the State.
Ajaka appreciated the Governor of Ondo State, Hon. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa for his unwavering support for the Health sector and his heavy investment in the healthcare infrastructure for the good people of the State.
