Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN has commended X-Ray Technicians in Nigeria for their tremendous contributions to the realisation of qualitative health care delivery in the country.

Akeredolu gave the commendation in his keynote address at the Opening Ceremony of the Year 2021 National Scientific Conference of the Association of X-Ray Technicians of Nigeria(AMEXTON)held in Akure, the Ondo State capital.

The Governor who was represented at the event by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Health, Pharmacist(Mrs.)Folukemi Aladenola averred that the resolve of X-Ray Technicians to address the need to achieve qualitative health care delivery in the country through precise medical x-ray and imaging processes is a testament of the fact that they have knack and penchant for proffering lasting solutions to contemporary challenges militating against qualitative health care delivery in Nigeria.

Akeredolu described the theme of the conference"Task Shifting and Task Sharing Policy In Radiography :The Medical X-Ray/Imaging Technicians Perspective" as apt as it is a demonstration of the responsive nature of the association to the need to ensure precision and accuracy in medical diagnosis through the professionalism of medical X-Ray technicians.

While describing the contributions of X-Ray technicians towards achieving robust and qualitative health care delivery in Nigeria as invaluable, Akeredolu said their crucial role in realising this can not be over-emphasised.

He noted that it is on the basis of this that his administration has continued to employ X-Ray technicians into the various health facilities in the state to complement the services of other medical personnel.

Akeredolu added that the state government has equally been providing support for the association while ensuring a conducive working environment for X-Ray technicians in the state.

Earlier in his keynote remarks, the National Chairman of AMEXTON, Comrade Musa Magaji described Radiology as an integral component of the health system as it is crucial in diagnosing critical ailments.

Magaji therefore stressed the need to appropriately utilise X-Ray technicians as middle cadre personnel in Radiology and be allowed to freely discharge their duties.

Also in her welcome address, the State Chairperson of AMEXTON, Ondo State Branch, Comrade Mrs. Kemi Ajayi said the theme for this year's conference was carefully chosen and the quality of papers to be presented were all based on contemporary issues that are beneficial to members.

Ajayi therefore charged members of the association to tap from the depth of knowledge of the resource persons.
