STAKEHOLDERS HARMONISE YEAR 2025 DEVELOPED ANNUAL OPERATIONAL PLAN (AOP)

The Ondo State Ministry of Health with the support of APIN Public Health has held a 5-day workshop on harmonization of Ondo State Health Sector 2025 Annual Operational Plan (AOP) with the overall objective to harmonize the developed 2025 MDAs level AOP into State level Annual Operational Plan.

The all-inclusive workshop held at Mydas Hotel in Owo, Owo Local Government Area of the State had Participants drawn from all the departments in the Ministry as well as Parastatals, Departments and Development Partners in the State Health Sector.

The Commissioner for Health, Dr Banji Awolowo Ajaka while giving his remark, described the document as a critical document that outlines strategic priorities and specific intervention for achieving impactful health outcomes.

He reiterated that the workshop was particularly significant to bring together insights, resources and expertise from various Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) in the health sector to ensure a coordinated approach in the development of the Annual Operational Plan.

While noting the evolving challenges such as emerging diseases, resource constraints and need for continuous improvement in service delivery, Ajaka averred that the harmonization workshop was an opportunity to align efforts, optimize resources and set a clear path forward to address the challenges effectively

He assured that the AOP would reflect shared vision that is data-driven and responsive to the needs of the good people of the State while providing a platform for every voice to be heard, also ensuring that the 2025 plan is comprehensive, inclusive and sustainable.

He appreciated the participants for their dedication and valuable contributions while urging them to be committed to achieving a healthier future for the people of the State.

Also, the Permanent Secretary, Ondo State Ministry of Health, Dr Adeniran Ikuomola commended the efforts of development partners in strengthening the State's health sector, while also informing the gathering that the workshop would also orientate Stakeholders on State Wide Approach (SWAP) HOPE project and Health Sector Specific Blueprint (HSSB), finalize the situation analysis for 2024, review and finalize MDA level AOP, provide cross validation of planned activities across MDAs to reduce duplication and improve efficiency.

The Head of Ondo State Office for APIN Public Health, Dr. Folake Adurogbola noted in her goodwill message that the process of year 2025 AOP had been rigorous compared to the previous years, she therefore promised that the partners working in the State would support the implementation of 2025 Annual Operational Plan to ensure a strengthened health sector.

Before the harmonization exercise, the Ministry had held a Top Management Committee meeting where senior officials identified and validated state-specific priorities within the HSSB, training for Primary Health Care Coordinators, Local Government Accountants on AOP 2025 tools, alignment of set priorities with Developing Partners working in the State and training for Programme Officers and AOP focal persons.
