Ondo State Ministry of Health has held Health Data Consultative Committee (HDCC) meeting with all Health Management Information Systems Officers in all the 18 Local Government Areas in the State for Quarter 3 of 2023.
The well attended meeting took place at the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) building in Alagbaka, Akure, the State Capital.
Speaking, the Permanent Secretary, Dr. (Mrs.) Folukemi Aladenola noted that the HDDC platform is to serve as a platform for the technical Stakeholders in the health sector and for relevant government institutions to be properly informed and for strengthening Health Data Management in the State.
She explained that the meeting would review the present trends in the State health data, identity gaps and proffer solutions to ensure harmonization and integration of all health data sources to serve as a guide for programs intervention to improve the State health indices.
She enumerated that Ondo State reporting rate had improved tremendously between 2019 and 2022 with 94% in 2019 and 99.3% in 2022.
She appreciated the Officers for their timely reportage which she said had also increased from 88% in 2019 to 98% in 2022 while also charging them not to rest on their oars.
The Director Planning, Research and Statistics, Dr Richard Adesoji in his welcome address averred that the meeting was to appraise their Data and also reward officers and facilities that had done well in data reporting timeliness and accuracy of their reportage.
In her goodwill message, the representative of the Society for Family Health (SFH), Miss Gbemisola Ayemowa appreciated the great effort and dedication the Officers put into their reporting which she described as accurate and reliable. She urged them not to relent in their efforts.
Two presentations were made on the status on Health Management Information System in the State and Supply Chain Status in Ondo State.
Performance assessment was done in three categories where Primary Health Care Ifedore came first in the Primary Health Care category, General Hospital Irun Akoko came first in the General Hospital category while Ifeolu Clinic Iju came first in the Private Health Facility category.
