NMCN REGISTRAR LAUDS ONDO GOVERNMENT OVER NURSES' WELFARE

The Secretary General and Registrar of the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria(NMCN), Alhaji Umar Abubakar has commended the present administration in Ondo State for according the Nursing Profession the deserved recognition and support.

Abubakar gave the commendation in his keynote address when he led Directors and Senior Members of the council on a Thank-You-Visit to the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Health, Pharmacist (Mrs.) Folukemi Aladenola in her office for her support to the council during the last NMCN's Examiners' Workshop held in Akure, the Ondo State capital.

The Registrar averred that the Nursing Profession has a solid base in Ondo State noting that the council is excited with the unflinching support Nurses enjoy from the government and good people of the state.

While calling for the sustenance of the spirit of oneness and togetherness, Abubakar assured that Nurses will continue to discharge their onerous responsibilities to the best of their knowledge.

He said the Council is proud of Ondo State as it is the first state to elevate Nursing education to the University level in Nigeria as obtainable in the University of Medical Sciences(UNIMED), Ondo.

Abubakar assured that the council will continue to promote the Nursing Profession in Nigeria noting that the Nursing Profession in Nigeria is presently one of the best in the world.

Responding, Aladenola said the Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN has passion for qualitative health care delivery and has therefore prioritized the health sector in the state.

While noting that Nurses are key, strategic and critical in the health care delivery chain, the Permanent Secretary appreciated them for their tremendous contributions to health care provision in the state.

Aladenola who said the Ministry of Health has the mandate of delivering qualitative health care services to the people of Ondo State assured that the Ministry will continue to support the Nursing Profession and provide a conducive atmosphere for them to work.

Abubakar thereafter commissioned the new NMCN zonal office located in Akure, the Ondo State capital.
