In a bid to assess the performances of Health Partners and harmonize their efforts and programs for effective delivery in the Health Sector, the Ondo State Ministry of Health has met with all Partners working in all the Local Government Areas of the State.
Speaking at the 3rd Quarter 2023 Partners Coordination Meeting held at Sunview Hotel Alagbaka Akure, the State capital, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Health, Pharm. (Mrs.) Folukemi Aladenola appreciated the Partners for complimenting the efforts of the Government in the Health Sector which has made the State to receive two national awards.
According to her, the Partners Coordination Meeting was intended to bring all Partners together to be able to harmonize their programs and activities to avoid duplication of efforts, as well as budget and work plan for proper documentation and transmission to the Ministry of Economic Planning and Budget.
In her words “If you are not well captured, it is as if you are not doing anything for the State, we want to make sure that the great job you are doing is well appreciated and for us to do that, we must be guided by proper documentation.”
Aladenola urged them to show the gaps, if any, in the implementation of their activities so far during presentation and refrain from data manipulation as the State was open to constructive criticism.
She announced that the State has commenced the recruitment of optimum Healthcare Personnel while promising that they would have enough hands to work with in all the facilities.
The State Coordinator, World Health Organization (WHO), Dr Dele David represented by Mr. Adewale Moses, in his goodwill message on behalf of the Partners, said the Partners in the State have continued to make remarkable achievements and are willing to keep up the good work.
He emphasized that the Partners Coordination Meeting had enable them to come together to harmonize their efforts with a view of gaining more achievements in the coming years.
He added that the meeting would enable Partners take note of the correct situation of things on field and to focus on key action points to take from the meeting to move the State forward.
In his presentation of the overview, the Director of Planning, Research and Statistics, Dr Uche Odionyenma stated that the objective of the meeting was to develop a unified work plan of all Health actors that will help to optimize health outcomes through effective collaboration and efficient management of available resources with a view to, among others, reducing duplication and overlap of Health activities being implemented by Partners in Ondo State Health Sector.
His overview further touched on current health indices of the State, set targets, journey so far, challenges and recommendations.
