Health Data Consultative Committee (HDCC) Meeting

The Acting Permanent Secretary, Dr Durojaiye Oladipo kick off the meeting by appreciating partners such as UNICEF for their continual support to the development of the Health sector in the state. He also encouraged Local Government Area health facilities to see these support from State and partner as an opportunity to better the Health system.

UNICEF Nigeria Health Specialist, Dr. Adebola Hassan, welcomed everyone present at the meeting and challenged the HMIS to look beyond collecting data for appreciation but able to analyse and interpret data for possible trend which will encourage data-driven decisions to be made in the State.

The State HMIS Officer, Mrs. Dorcas Johnson introduced the NHMIS tools and gave the brief of overall performance of the State for the first quarter of the year. She stated that Ondo state reporting rate is on the fourth (4th) position on the national level which is a great improvement in comparison to eighth (8th) position as at December 2017, also maintaining the first (1st) position as the champion in the whole of the South-west. She further stated that the reporting rate has also increased from 94% to 96%.

She also highlight some of the issues noticed in the State data for the presented quarter such as conflict in the Malaria report, where total number of person with confirmed uncomplicated malaria given ACT is more than the total number of person with confirmed uncomplicated malaria. In addition, the disparity between persons presenting fever and persons tested, also on MNCH the total number of delivery is higher than total birth in some LGAs.

Presentation on best performing Secondary health facilities and Local Government Area was made by the State HMIS Officer, She also informed the meeting that the assessment was done using the DHIS 2.27 platform as the data source for the two level of care (secondary health facilities and for LGA) assessing the LGAs level using public and private health facilities level to strengthen the private sector in each LGA.

She explained methodology use are Reporting rate, Timeliness, Completeness and Consistency (on MNCH, Malaria & FP), date of data upload & time of upload was used for the secondary health facility category.

  • 2nd Position – Igbekebo General Hospital

At the end of presentation of awards and gifts, all the awardees appreciated the sponsor of the program i.e. Ministry of Health & UNICEF for their kind gestures and promised to keep up the good work.

The Ag Director Planning Research and Statistics, Dr. Aladeniyi appreciated everyone present and wish them safe journey to their respective destination.
