MINISTRY OF HEALTH HANDS OVER AMBULANCE TO ODEMSA

In response to the challenge of dearth of operational vehicles facing the Ondo State Emergency Medical Services (ODEMSA),the Ministry of Health has handed over a functional ambulance to the agency to enhance its operations.


Speaking at the handing-over ceremony today, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Health, Pharmacist(Mrs.)Folukemi Aladenola who noted that although the ambulance is not new, but functional said it is to assist the agency in the rapid movement of road accident victims to the nearest hospital.


Aladenola who averred that in view of the crucial mandate of ODEMSA, rescuing road accident victims, the agency is critical to the state's health sector added that the gesture is in furtherance of the Ministry's avowed commitment to synergy and collaboration among all agencies in the health sector towards achieving overall qualitative health care delivery.


The Permanent Secretary charged the Management and Staff of ODEMSA to ensure judicious utilization of the vehicle saying: “It must not be parked in the agency's premises, but always be on the road for rescue services".


Aladenola said": Your boss informed us about your challenges, especially as regards dearth of operational vehicles. It is therefore in response to this challenge that the Ministry of Health has decided to hand over one of our ambulances to you, so that you can go on with your duties.


"Note that this ambulance is not to be parked in your premises,but to always be on the road on rescue duties.It is expected that this gesture will assist you in rapid movement of road accident victims to the nearest hospital".


She appreciated the Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu SAN, for providing a conducive operational environment for the Ministry and all agencies in the state's health sector.


Aladenola cautioned that the Ministry will not hesitate to withdraw the vehicle if found not to be used for the purpose for which it was meant.


Responding, the Head and Director of Finance and Administration, Ondo State Emergency Medical Services(ODEMSA), Mr.Victor Igumah appreciated the Ministry of Health for the gesture saying the Permanent Secretary has always been supportive to the agency urging her not to relent in her efforts.


While commending Aladenola for her unflinching support, concern and passion for the agency, Igumah said the Permanent Secretary has always prioritized every issue relating to ODEMSA praying that the Lord Almighty will reward her abundantly. The DFA assured that the agency will put the ambulance to maximum use and for the benefit of mankind.
